Title VI, Civil Rights, Discrimination Complaints

NYC DOT is committed to compliance with all Civil Rights regulations. Persons who believe they have been discriminated against (i.e. excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or access to, NYC DOT programs or services) on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, or income status have the right to file a complaint. Discrimination complaints can be filed online, by mail, or by calling 311. Your complaint must be submitted within 180 days of the alleged discrimination. Freedom of Information

Article 6 of the New York State Public Officers Law (FOIL) allows the public to submit written requests for access to Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) records.

Due to office closings related to the COVID-19 State of Emergency, it is recommended that you submit FOIL requests electronically via NYC’s OpenRecords Portal.

If you are unable to submit a request electronically, you may mail your request to: New York City Department of Transportation, Records Access Officer, 55 Water Street, 4th floor, New York, NY 10041.
