Reminder: New Round of Public Workshops to Reimagine the Cross Bronx Expressway Begin This Week

City and State seizing once-in-a generation opportunity to reimagine the Cross Bronx corridor and identify ways to reconnect communities divided by the highway

Officials to hold workshops throughout June and July to build on momentum of successful Open Houses

NEW YORK – New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez today joined New York City Department of City Planning (DCP) Director Dan Garodnick, New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) Commissioner Dr. Ashwin Vasan, and New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner (NYS DOT) Marie Therese Dominguez to remind New Yorkers that a new round of public workshops begin this week to reimagine the Cross Bronx Expressway from the Harlem River to the Hutchinson River Parkway, helping to reconnect the communities divided by the highway and lessen the negative effects it has had on surrounding neighborhoods.

"Bronxites, please join us and have your voices heard about the future of the Cross Bronx Expressway!" said NYC DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez. "We are working closely with State and City agencies to come up with bold ways to reconnect communities divided by the Cross Bronx Expressway. These public meetings will be inclusive, multi-lingual workshops—and we are prepared to accommodate young children at in-person events to ensure families can participate."

"All Bronxites and New Yorkers have a chance to reimagine the Cross Bronx Expressway as together we map out a more connected, healthier, and safer community," said Dan Garodnick, Director of the Department of City Planning and Chair of the City Planning Commission. "I hope our neighbors will join us for these workshops and future meetings as this landmark study moves forward."
