The NYC Department of Transportation today announced that Summer Streets 2010
will conclude tomorrow, with dozens of activities planned along the 6.9-mile car
free route from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park from 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. Over
one hundred thousand New Yorkers have enjoyed the first two Summer Streets,
which has helped encourage more healthy physical activity and promoted walking
and cycling in New York City.
A special guest this week will be 2010 U.S. Olympic Short Track
Speed-Skating medalist Allison Baver, who will skate with the public and
sign autographs starting at 9:45 a.m. at the Uptown Rest Stop location on Park
Avenue between 50th and 51st Streets, and then continuing at 10:45 a.m. at the
Midtown location at Park Avenue and 26th Street. A list of sample activities is
below, and a complete list of activities is available at www.nyc.gov/summerstreets
