What is being done to improve bus service?
DOT is working with MTA New York City Transit to bring Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) to New York City. The first generation of BRT in the City is called Select Bus Service. Select Bus Service uses innovative bus rapid transit elements that will improve the speed and reliability of bus service on the implemented routes. The first SBS corridor, Fordham Road-Pelham Parkway (Bx12 bus route) was implemented in June 2008.
