The 2016 NYC Bike Map includes nearly 70 lane miles of new or upgraded bike infrastructure to the City’s bike network. 2015 was a momentous year for New York City cyclists: in the fall the City celebrated the installation of its 1,000th mile in the bike network.
New additions to the 2016 NYC Bike Map include:
- Over 12 miles of new on-street protected bike lanes
- Over 7 miles of new off-street bike lanes, including over 3 miles on Springville Greenway located along the eastern edge of Staten Island’s Freshkills Park
- 58 miles of on-street development (includes lane upgrades and new bike facilities)
This year the City is on track to build 15 more miles of protected bike lanes, the most ever in a calendar year.
