Release #05-85
Friday, November 25, 2005

Beginning Monday, November 28, 2005 the daytime weekday road closures (10 am to 3 pm) in Central Park will be suspended until after the New Year to provide additional capacity to help process the expected increase in vehicular trips during the holiday season. The park drives will be open to traffic from 7 am to 7 pm Monday to Friday. HOV 2 will still be in effect from 7:00 am to 10:00 am daily on the West Drive. A portion of the East Drive will remain open from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at night and on weekdays when necessary. Vehicles will enter the East Drive at 59th Street, just west of 5th Avenue, and exit at 72nd Street. This section of the East Drive will remain open when 6th Avenue is congested.
