Friday, October 7, 2005, in honor of International Walk to School Week, Department of Transportation Commissioner Iris Weinshall and Federal Express volunteers will walk with third grade students and teachers from PS 4 to DOT’s Upper Manhattan Safety City where students will participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor hands-on traffic safety activities.

The walk begins at 9:30 am at PS 4 (500 W. 160th Street) and will be followed by a 10:00 am press conference at Safety City (672 W. 158 Street.) Students will then participate in organized traffic safety activities on Safety City’s simulated streetscape.
