Litter and Pet Waste Prevention

Take the NYCHA Litter Pledge!

Litter attracts more litter! Keep your building beautiful by putting waste in its place in our shared space.

Take this pledge with your friends and family to show your commitment to a clean NYCHA! We're in this together!

Put Pet Waste in its Place!

NYCHA is pet friendly – residents can have either one dog or one cat in their apartment! All you need to do is register your pet with NYCHA, which earns you a free leash bag holder! Contact your property management office to register your pet, and find out more in NYCHA's Home to be Proud of guidebook.

We love your pets, but we don't love their waste. Dog waste that is not picked up and thrown away attracts pests and causes odors. Even worse, if it's in your walking path, it can make your day messy and stinky!
