Squad 8/H+H

Squad 8 is the Inspector General for New York City's Health + Hospitals, the City’s public healthcare system, which operates 11 hospitals, 5 long-term care/rehabilitation facilities, and multiple neighborhood health centers/clinics. Squad 8 conducts long-term investigations to prevent Health + Hospitals' employees, healthcare providers, and vendors who do business with the system, and its subsidiaries, from defrauding Health + Hospitals and its wholly-owned subsidiary MetroPlus, which provides health insurance to City residents and employees. Squad 8 also oversees Correctional Health Services, a division of NYC Health+ Hospitals that is the direct provider of health care in the city’s jails. This Squad's investigations have resulted in stopping theft from NYC Health + Hospitals properties; exposing conflicts of interest involving Health + Hospital employees; and convictions of individuals who submit fraudulent prescriptions to advance the distribution of illegal narcotics, such as oxycodone.
