Fingerprint Unit

Pursuant to the New York City Administrative Code §21-119 (derived from Local Law 60/1984), individuals who work at child care, home care, and family care facilities, including those entities that are under contract with the City of New York, must be screened for criminal convictions and/or pending criminal actions. All applicants must have their fingerprints checked against New York State and Federal criminal records databases. Notifications of arrests in New York State are provided on an ongoing basis for all active employees.

As of June 1, 2020, applicants seeking to work in a Child Care program will no longer be fingerprinted at the New York City Department of Investigation. Fingerprinting for child care staff will be conducted on behalf of DOI/DOHMH at IdentoGO centers (operated by IDEMIA). IdentoGO centers are located throughout the five boroughs as well as outside NYC. Specific location information and service hours are available at the link below.

Applicants must schedule an appointment to be fingerprinted at IDENTOGO. Walk-in service is not available; fingerprint processing is by appointment only.

To schedule an appointment, applicants must follow all instructions provided and complete the entire registration process. At the time of fingerprinting, the applicant must bring the required identification and pay the fingerprinting fee, $101.75 as of January 1, 2022. After being fingerprinted, applicants must submit a receipt of fingerprint processing, which they will receive from the IdentoGO center, to the DOHMH with their A-Series Packet.
