Engaging in the voting process is a vital way for individuals in custody to stay informed, make their voices heard, and maintain strong community connections. The Department is committed to ensuring that all eligible individuals can fully exercise their right to vote while in the Department’s custody and upon their return to the community, and provides individuals in custody all necessary information, resources, and encouragement to support them in exercising their right to vote.
The Department provides people in custody with access to voter information, voter assistance, and all required Board of Election (“BOE”) forms to vote in local, State, and Federal elections. The Department also provides individuals in custody with re-entry materials upon discharge.
