Welcome to the DOC's Virtual Visitors Center



Beginning on June 3, the Department will implement a new list of items that may be mailed or dropped off to people in our care. Any items that have been recently removed are already provided by the DOC. Click here to see the updated list.


The Department recognizes the importance of supporting connections between individuals in our custody to their family and support networks through visits.
There are a few things that everyone should know before visiting someone on Rikers Island.

  • In-person visits operate on a walk-in basis only. Pre-registration is not available for in-person visits.
  • In-person visits operate on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. To have an in-person visit, you must arrive at Rikers Island Central Visits during the registration hours below:
    • Wednesday and Thursday registration hours: 1:00pm – 6:00pm
    • Saturday and Sunday registration hours: 7:00am – 12:00pm
    • Visitors must arrive during registration hours to be processed for a visit.
  • Televisits will operate on Fridays.
  • The visit schedule is based on the first letter of the person in custody’s last name. Visitors should check the visitation schedule to be sure their friend or family member is eligible for a visit on a specific day. Please visit the Visit Schedule page for more information.

Permissible packages will be accepted during in-person visiting hours. Visitors can drop off their package at the Rikers Bail & Package Reception area next to Central Visits on Rikers Island. You may also still mail packages.
