NYC Supports Businesses

The City’s Open Storefronts program allows storefront businesses to temporarily use a portion of the sidewalk and roadways to display merchandise, sell goods, and more. Stoop Line Stand licensees are not required but encouraged to join the free program to take advantage of added benefits. In September 2022, NYC launched the NYC Business Express Service Team (BEST) initiative to provide small businesses with one-on-one expert support and cut time spent navigating City government. Services are available in multiple languages. Scale Inspections

DCA tests the accuracy of all weighing and measuring devices (i.e., scales) used by retail and service establishments such as supermarkets, bodegas, jewelry stores, and laundries. We also test airport scales. Learn more about scale inspections.

Hearings

The Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH) hears Summons/Notice of Hearing (also called a violation) issued by DCWP. Learn more about hearings.

Settle Violations

In most cases, you can settle a case without a hearing by meeting with a DCWP Settlement Officer or accepting the conditions of an Offer of Settlement letter. Learn more about how to settle violations.

Resolve Complaints
