Permits and Licenses

The Permits and Licenses Committee reviews and provides advisory recommendations on applications from business owners in the district seeking a liquor license from the New York State Liquor Authority and, more recently, New York State Office of Cannabis Management adult-use cannabis retail license applications.

Core Responsibilities:

• Review liquor and adult-use cannabis retail license applications.
• Develop stipulations to address noise, hours, security, and community concerns.
• Hold public discussions with residents and operators on problem locations and compliance issues.
• Issue advisory recommendations to the full board and State Liquor Authority (and other permitting bodies).
• Track patterns in complaints and work with agencies (NYPD - 83rd Precinct, State Liquor Authority, NYC Buildings, NYC Environmental Protection, etc.) on enforcement and remediation.

Meets: the second Tuesday of the month at 6pm as needed. Please check the board's calendar or contact the district office for the next committee meeting date and time.
