The New York City Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) employs over 800 people at its Secure and Non-Secure Detention (NSD) facilities, and Central Office location. Its mission is to provide assistance to alleged Juvenile Delinquents (JDs) and Juvenile Offenders (JOs) with cases pending, and post-adjudicated juveniles awaiting transfer to state custody.

DJJ's Secure Detention facilities are located in the Bronx and Brooklyn, with work locations in all five boroughs.
