Security Guard Protections

Local Law 61 of 2026 establishes workplace protections for certain private-sector security guards in New York City and will be phased in:  

  • January 1, 2027: Minimum wage
  • January 1, 2028: Paid time off
  • January 1, 2029: Supplemental benefits

On September 1, 2026, DCWP will post a Minimum Wage Schedule that includes the minimum wage requirement that will take effect January 1, 2027. 

DCWP will also post a Notice of Employee Rights. Your employer must provide you with a copy of the Notice.
