DCWP enforces NYC’s Protected Time Off Law. Covered employees can use their Protected Time Off for many reasons, including medical care for themselves or their family member, child care, benefits or housing court appointments/hearings, and safety steps due to domestic violence. It is illegal for employers to punish or fire employees for requesting or using leave or for reporting violations.
