The average property or business owner comes to the Department of Buildings (DOB) for a variety of services. Either to obtain building records, meet with a Project Advocate to assist in resolving technical/operational issues related to a project or property, or maybe it’s to get information on finding a licensed professional, or obtain direction for a future project. Whatever the reason, the Department is here to help you.
DOB promotes the safety of all people that build, work, and live in New York City. We are committed to providing efficient service to all New Yorkers to meet the safety and permitting needs of residents across all five boroughs and that includes your project.
Our borough offices are open on the first and third Tuesday of the month from 4:00pm to 7:00pm for Buildings After Hours. Homeowners, tenants, small business owners, and building managers may attend Buildings After Hours to:
