  • HMO Endorsement in Effect - Please be advised pursuant to RCNY 104-09, HMO endorsements are now in effect. To find out which endorsements are required for your Hoist Machine Operators License please check the NCCCO Requirements guide. For more information regarding the process, see the full changes in RCNY 104-09.
  • Limited HMO License Service Notice– As of November 7, 2024, an HMO license issued by the Department of Buildings will be required to operate an articulating boom crane, mini crane, or rotating telehandler in New York City.
  • HMO License Types in DOB NOW: Licensing Service Notice – As of October 16, 2024, all new Hoisting Machine Operator (HMO) license applications, renewal submissions, card re-issuance requests and changes to information must be submitted in DOB NOW: Licensing.

Class A Hoist Machine Operators

Class A Hoist Machine Operators are licensed to operate cranes with booms under 200 feet in length.

Late Renewal Fee $50.00
License Term 3 years

Class B Hoist Machine Operators

Class B Hoist Machine Operators are licensed to operate all cranes regardless of length.

License Fee $200.00
Renewal Fee $150.00

License Term 3 years

Class C Hoist Machine Operators

Class C Hoist Machine Operators are licensed to operate Class C1, C2, and C3 hoisting machines.

License Fee $100.00
Renewal Fee $75.00
Late Renewal Fee $50.00
License Term 3 years
