Are you a youth in foster care interested in pursuing an accredited vocational, trade, or job training program?


About Career Choice

The NYC Administration for Children's Services (ACS) Career Choice program supports youth in foster care who are enrolled or accepted to an accredited trade school or a job/training skills development program.


Program Pathways

Youth can choose to participate in one of three pathways:

  1. Advance and Earn Plus: Offered in partnership with the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD).
  2. Workforce Ready: For youth participating in training and workforce readiness programs.
  3. Career Choice: For youth interested in an accredited vocational, trade or training programs.

Benefits

Youth who participate in Career Choice will receive a stipend and other supports, such as coaching, financial assistance with school or program fees.


Eligibility

To be considered for Career Choice, youth will need to:

  • Have completed high school or
  • Have a High School Equivalency (HSE) or
  • Be at least 17 years old and no longer enrolled in school
  • Be currently in foster care through ACS
  • Additional eligibility applies 

Overall, the Career Choice program will serve approximately 400 youth
