The Department of Cardiology at Elmhurst Hospital Center (EHC) has a tradition of comprehensive and state-of-the-art care aimed at serving our community. In the past few years, we have significantly expanded our range of services. We provide 24/7 emergency angioplasty services, allowing the most severe heart attack victims to receive rapid and advanced care. In addition:
- Elmhurst Hospital Center was the first cardiac center in the five boroughs to perform elective angioplasty without requiring on-site cardiothoracic surgery. Now, almost all of our patients who require angioplasty can receive this important treatment on site at Elmhurst.
- EHC Cardiology has also developed a full time Electrophysiology service. We offer implantable defibrillator and pacemaker insertions, catheter ablation for cardiac arrhythmias and electrophysiology testing, all in our new on-site electrophysiology suite.
- We are expanding our inpatient services and outpatient testing. We have added a telemetry service to complement our nine-bed Coronary Care Unit. We are also expanding our outpatient diagnostic testing services, including additional stress test evaluations in our nuclear medicine and echocardiography laboratories.
- Our clinic services are also expanding. In addition to general Cardiology clinics, we are accepting referrals to our specialty Heart Failure and Pacemaker/Defibrillator clinics.
