Alcohol/Substance Abuse

Elmhurst Hospital Center provides both inpatient and outpatient services for patients with substance abuse problems. The inpatient program offers acute detoxification for individuals addicted to heroin or other opiates and alcohol, giving patients access to safe medical detoxification and referral to aftercare upon completion. Outpatient services are tailored to the needs of individual patients. Patients receive an assessment in our central intake unit in order to enable them to be placed in a specific program most appropriate for their needs.

Group discussions focus on relapse prevention, illness in recovery, smoking cessation, wellness and domestic violence. Specialized support groups are offered for women, seniors, and Spanish speaking individuals. We accept Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance and offer a sliding fee scale for those with no insurance. For more information, please call 718.334.4000.
