HHC is committed to providing a broad range of services that cover the entire spectrum of a person’s healthcare needs throughout his or her life. Although we are committed to our traditional role of treating people who are ill, we are increasingly working to keep the communities that we serve healthy through prevention. We also focus on offering services to help our patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and asthma.
Of course, we also provide services to assure that patients get better when they are ill and need to be hospitalized. While no one wants to go to a hospital, the reality is that at some point in your life, you probably will. Whether for giving birth or for lifesaving surgery, you, your family and your doctor should be confident that the hospital you choose is the right one for you. It is important to know your hospital’s safety record and whether patients are receiving appropriate and effective care.
We have created this special section on our web site so you can see the quality measurements we are using to assess our progress, as well as how we fare against established state and national standards. All national, state and other comparative data referenced on our web site are from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) or from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), both federal agencies. Very few other hospitals in the country have voluntarily shared this type of data with the communities that they serve.
By posting this information in a way that is clear, understandable, and timely we are showing our willingness to be held publicly accountable for doing all that we can to offer excellent care and to keep our patients safe.
We invite you to look over this information as an additional guide in your healthcare decision-making.
