The Administration for Children’s Services is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Child Protective Specialist to serve within the Division of Child Protection. - Role Summary: Child Protective Specialists perform critical field work, responding directly to allegations of child abuse or maltreatment. They conduct face-to-face safety assessments, interview family members, collaborate with legal teams to file Family Court petitions, and maintain comprehensive digital case records.
- Salary: The starting salary for this position is $58,984.00.
- Minimum Education: A baccalaureate (Bachelor's) degree from an accredited college or university. preferably in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Experience: Prior experience in case management, social services, child welfare, or crisis intervention is highly preferred.
- Language Proficiency: Candidates must pass a structured test demonstrating English language proficiency. Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
- Clearances: Ability to pass comprehensive criminal background checks, FBI fingerprinting, drug screening, and child abuse clearances.
- Residency Policy: NYC residency is not required for this title. This position is fully exempt from the standard New York City residency requirements, opening the opportunity to qualified candidates living outside the five boroughs.
- Civil Service Requirements: Candidates must file for, take, and pass the next official DCAS Civil Service Exam for this title to secure permanent city employment status.
