NYC Children Program Counselor Recruitment & Hiring EventShape Futures. Support NYC Youth.The NYC Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) is hosting a Hiring Event in collaboration with NYC SBS. We are looking for dedicated individuals to join our Division of Youth and Family Justice (DYFJ) as full-time Program Counselors to serve at either Crossroads or Horizon Juvenile Detention Facility.The Program Counselor plans, coordinates, and implements programmatic services and youth development activities within ACS secure detention facilities, focusing on pro-social programming, behavioral interventions, and rehabilitative workshops for at-risk youth.At this event, you can meet with division leadership, learn about our juvenile justice and youth development initiatives, and potentially secure a conditional offer of employment.

Minimum Requirements to AttendTo be considered for an on-site interview, you must meet one of the following pathways:

• Pathway 1: A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, plus two (2) years of full-time, satisfactory community work experience in counseling, social work, youth development, or rehabilitation.
• Pathway 2: A High School diploma or its educational equivalent, plus six (6) years of full-time, satisfactory community work experience as described in Pathway 1.
• Pathway 3: A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience. However, all candidates must possess at least one (1) year of full-time community work experience.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

• Experience with justice-involved or at-risk youth in residential or detention settings, strong judgment, computer proficiency, and bilingual skills.

Salary

• The Selected Candidate Will Be Offered a Salary Of $62,868.00 - $72,298.00

• Proof of Education: Diploma, Degree and unofficial transcript with degree conferred. (If you completed your education outside of the United States, you must submit your Foreign Education Evaluation.)
• Educational Transcripts: Unofficial Transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions you have attended showing a list of all courses taken, credits earned, grades received and the name of the degree earned (if any).

Program Counselor Preferred Qualifications· Experience working with justice-involved, at-risk, or underserved youth in a residential, detention, educational, or community-based setting.· Demonstrated ability to de-escalate crisis situations, manage challenging behaviors, and exercise sound judgment in high-pressure environments.· Experience coordinating or providing direct services and youth development activities, including facilitating workshops, life skills programming, psychoeducational groups, and counseling, in a residential, detention, educational, or community-based setting.· Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills with the ability to build rapport with youth from diverse backgrounds.· Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with youth from diverse cultural backgrounds.· Bilingual or multilingual proficiency is a plus.
