Pay ticket

If you received any of the following in NYC...

  • Parking ticket
  • School zone speed camera violation
  • Red light camera violation
  • Bus lane camera violation

You must pay your fine within 30 days to avoid penalites.

It takes time for tickets to appear in the system. If you don’t see your ticket, check back in a few days. You can also pay in advance by entering your violation number.

Dispute ticket

If you want to dispute a ticket, request a hearing within 30 days to avoid penalties.

You can complete the dispute process entirely online or by mail. You don’t need to appear in person.

Check ticket status

You can check the status of your parking ticket payment, dispute, or appeal online.

You can also:

  • Check whether your vehicles have other tickets
  • See the total amount you owe

It can take up to three weeks for your ticket to appear in the online system.

You can pay your ticket before it appears by entering the violation number and fine amount from the paper ticket into CityPay. Please note that you can only pay in advance by searching the violation number, not your license plate number.

This information is only for NYC parking or camera tickets. If you received a moving violation ticket from a police officer, you must pay through the DMV.

  1. You request a hearing and submit evidence.

  2. An administrative judge reviews your case and decides whether to dismiss your ticket.

  3. If your ticket is dismissed, you do not have to pay.

  4. If your ticket is not dismissed, you’ll have to pay the fine and any penalties charged before you requested a hearing.

Payments can take up to two weeks to be processed and show up in the system.

If you’ve paid in full and the ticket still appears after two weeks, contact 311 for assistance.

There is a 2% processing fee if you pay with a credit card, debit card, Venmo, or PayPal. There are no fees for paying by check, electronic check, or money order.

Watch out for private companies that charge extra fees for paying your ticket. Paying directly is the safest and most affordable option.
