Dr. Susan Smith McKinney Nursing & Rehabilitation Center (DSSM) opened its doors in 1997. Today, it provides medical, rehabilitation and skilled nursing services for residents, within a pristine, tranquil setting. We are dedicated to enriching the lives of our residents in a holistic manner, which includes their emotional, social and spiritual needs. Our spacious and tastefully decorated private and semi-private rooms are equipped with specially designed bathrooms to accommodate the elderly and disabled.

The facility was named in honor of Dr. Susan Smith McKinney Steward, the first African-American female doctor in New York State and the third in the nation. Dr. McKinney's strength, resolve, courage, dedication and her belief in dignity is the core of our mission.

Our mission is to provide healthcare services to a culturally and linguistically diverse population regardless of their ability to pay. We recognize that every resident and employee has great value. Therefore, our highest organizational priority must be respect for our residents, our visitors and one another.

Our obligation is to extend equally premier comprehensive health services to all, regardless of ability to pay, within an atmosphere of humane care and respect.
