The Office of Equal Employment Opportunities (EEO) is committed to fostering an environment that is free from discrimination and promoting a fair and equitable work environment. EEO is a neutral, independent office that investigates allegations of discrimination, harassment and retaliation filed by employees, applicants, contracted and temporary staff and members of the public based on protected categories covered by federal, state and local laws. EEO implements the City's Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and standards.

EEO also handles requests for reasonable accommodations for employees, as well as any complaints of discrimination filed by DHS employees, job applicants, and clients. Furthermore, the office aims to incorporate diversity into the agency's day-to-day endeavors, as it delivers sound, culturally sensitive and relevant services to New Yorkers.
