Neighborhood Safety Councils (NSCs) will work in partnership with the government to implement key strategies of the Blueprint for Community Safety. The NSCs will serve as a platform for community members to co‐design, plan, and implement initiatives that support community wide safety. The NSCs will partner with government agencies to provide the tools and resources for community members to monitor implementation, progress & outcomes. The NSCs will create regular opportunities for collaboration, mutual trust building, and relationship‐building between the community, CBOs, elected leaders, and local police precincts on neighborhood public safety.
DYCD is looking for place‐based CBOs with a history of strong community‐oriented programming, community‐ties, and inroads in their respective communities to serve as the NSC Chairs. They should be well‐versed in convening community leaders, stakeholders and residents. They should be trusted by the community and able to interface and coordinate with City agencies and other CBOs in support of the NSCs. They should also have expertise in one of the seven strategies or community‐based public safety. In utilizing their internal network and organizational structure, Neighborhood Safety Chairs should be able to lead, co‐ design, and plan initiatives through the Neighborhood Safety Council.

DYCD’s Fatherhood Initiative programs will serve fathers ages 18 years and over living at or below the federal poverty level and the primary goal is to support fathers to become self-sufficient and more connected with their children and community to strengthen their children’s economic, emotional and social futures.

The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) is seeking to identify organizations with experience providing workforce development and wraparound services to underemployed or unemployed participants, ages 18 to 40, involved in the criminal justice system or impacted by community violence.
In the Community Resources for Employment and Development Program (CRED) NYC, participants will be offered work readiness training, occupational training, and internships for in-demand sectors for up to 24 weeks, with 3 months of follow-up services, including job placement, after completing training. In addition, participants will have access to a myriad of supportive services throughout the program, including mental health counseling and connections to social services, resources, and benefits that would enable them to successfully engage in the program activities (e.g., housing, life coaching, academic support, legal support, access to healthcare, etc.).
