NYC Aging has created several videos to guide you through the process of registering your SADC. Click on the titles below to view them on our YouTube channel.
Pursuant to Section 21-204 of the Administrative Code of the City of New York (“the Administrative Code”), all SADCs operating in New York City must register with NYC Aging and comply with all other relevant laws and rules, including but not limited to the New York State Office for the Aging Program Standards and Participant Rights and Chapter 2 of Title 69 of the Rules of the City of New York (“RCNY”). The Administrative Code authorizes and requires NYC Aging to regulate SADC programs and receive and investigate complaints about them. It also authorizes NYC Aging to issue notices of violation against SADCs that do not comply with the relevant laws and rules.
Read more about the standards governing SADCs here, including how a program should be structured and who is eligible to receive SADC services, as well as tools for SADCs to assess their compliance with the standards and where to find technical assistance with opening an SADC.
All SADCs are required to post a sign that includes the contact information for the Department for the Aging (“NYC Aging”) SADC Ombuds Office and a sign that outlines participants’ rights. Both must be posted in plain view. You can download them below.
