New York City is home to nearly 1.8 million older adults. Supporting their ability to live safely, affordably, and in good health is both a responsibility and a shared commitment.
The NYC Department for the Aging works in partnership with community-based organizations across all five boroughs to deliver services that help older adults remain in their homes and communities. These services include older adult centers, home-delivered meals, case management, caregiver support, mental health programs, volunteer engagement, and employment services. Together, we advance a coordinated community-care approach that strengthens independence and connection.
NYC Aging is committed to providing inclusive and accessible services for all older New Yorkers. All City residents, regardless of immigration status, may access NYC Aging and other City services. The City maintains strong policies to protect the confidentiality of personal information, including immigration-related information. Additional information is available through the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs and at nyc.gov/publiccharge.
As our older adult population continues to grow, we remain focused on collaboration, equity, service improvements, and fiscal responsibility. By strengthening interagency partnerships and working closely with community providers, we are building a more age-inclusive city where every older New Yorker can age with health, stability, and respect.
Sincerely,
Dr. Lisa Scott-McKenzie
