What Laws Do I Need to Follow?

• Read the Short-Term Rental Registration Law, which is part of Title 26 of the New York City Administrative Code. 
• You’ll need to certify that you reviewed the regulations for LL18, including the “Registered host requirements” in § 21-10, which explains the ongoing requirements for hosts. 
• Read New York City Administrative Code § 28-118, which explains certificates of occupancy. 
• Read New York City Administrative Code § 28-210, which relates to illegal conversions. 
• Read New York City Administrative Code § 28-301, which contains the rule that a building owner must ensure a building complies with city codes. 
• Read New York City Administrative Code § 28-701, Building Code § 310, which explains the different types of residential buildings. 
• Read New York City Administrative Code § 27-287.1 and New York State Multiple Dwelling Law § 121, which contain a prohibition of certain illegal short-term rental advertisements. 
• Read New York City Administrative Code § 27-2004, which is part of the Housing Maintenance Code list of definitions. 
• Read New York City Administrative Code §§ 2057-2088, which is part of the Housing 
• Maintenance Code that contains physical and occupancy standards for dwelling units. 
• Read Multiple Dwelling Law § 4(8), which defines Class A multiple dwellings.
