Reports and Statistical Analyses

The NYPD regularly publishes reports, statistical analyses and interactive dashboards on a wide variety of department-related topics, providing the public with important information and a high level of transparency.

This section contains a wealth of historical data — in some cases, going back over a decade — about various functions of the NYPD and its interactions with the public.

Dashboards

In an effort to provide increased transparency around important data, the Department publishes user-friendly interactive dashboards that allow the public to view our information in a different way.

To access the dashboards, click on one of the links below. Once the content has loaded you can interact with the information in a variety of ways including:

    • Clicking on various visuals, which will in turn update the content based on your selections
    • Using your mouse to hover over visuals to bring up additional information
    • Right clicking on a visual to show a table view for a different way of seeing the same information
  • Personnel Demographics Dashboard
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) is the largest and one of the oldest municipal police departments in the United States, with approximately 36,000 officers and 19,000 civilian employees. This dashboard provides a breakdown of our members by race, gender and rank/title.
  • Hate Crimes Dashboard
Hate Crimes are offenses that are motivated in whole or substantial part by a person's, a group's or a place's identification with a particular race, religion, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, ancestry, national origin or sexual orientation. This dashboard allows you to navigate these offenses and view incident level data by precinct, bias type and law code.
  • NYPD Force Dashboard
The primary duty of all members of the service (MOS) is to protect human life, including the lives of individuals being placed in police custody. Force may be used when it is reasonable to ensure the safety of a member of the service or a third person, or otherwise protect life, or when it is reasonable to place a person in custody or to prevent escape from custody. This dashboard summarizes all incidents in which an NYPD member of service utilized force.  In any given incident there may be one or more members of service involved.  While there is typically at least one subject, there are incidents where no subject is involved; such as an accidental discharge of conducted electrical weapon (CEW).  The interactive dashboard allows users to explore the characteristics of the incidents, members of service and the subjects.  The dashboard includes an introduction page providing legal context; an information page providing information on data collection and NYPD policy; and a help page with instructions for using the dashboard.
  • NYPD "How Did We Do?" Survey Results Dashboard
In 2020, as part of the NYPD's  ongoing efforts to connect with the people they serve, and to help them to continue to provide excellent service to the community, the NYPD created a public survey called "How Did We Do?" The goal of the survey is to identify customer service gaps, as well as strengths, and provide tangible data to inform policy improvements and improve customer service.  The results of these surveys are presented here in an interactive dashboard.
  • Officer Profile
Allows users to view information for active uniformed members of service, including title & shield history, Department recognition & awards, certain disciplinary history, history of arrests processed, and additional documents.
