Nicole Van Gendt

Nicole Van Gendt was appointed Senior Vice President for Legal Affairs and First Deputy General Counsel in 2025 to oversee litigation, including housing litigation, general litigation, commercial litigation, torts, and labor and employee relations. Nicole joined NYCHA in 2010 as NYCHA’s Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Officer, responsible for providing training and guidance on EEO best practices as well as overseeing EEO investigations. In 2012, she became the Labor and Employment Chief, providing day-to-day advice on labor, employment, and HR issues. In 2017, she became the Director of Human Resources, where she was responsible for recruitment, employee and labor relations, and benefits and timekeeping. Prior to joining NYCHA, Nicole worked as a litigator with a focus on employment and securities law.
