Annie Gurvis

Annie Gurvis was appointed Interim Chief of Staff in January 2026. She joined NYCHA as Deputy Chief of Staff in 2024. Previously, Annie served as Senior Advisor for Housing Operations to the Deputy Mayor for Housing, Economic Development, and Workforce, where she liaised between the Mayor's Office and NYC's housing agencies, including NYCHA, and oversaw the City's tenant portfolio. Annie got her start in local government on the Project Management team at the NYC Mayor's Office of Operations, where she devised and managed implementation of complex interagency projects, including providing asylum seekers with shelter and facilitating safe reopening of businesses during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Annie began her career as a criminal justice policy researcher at Urban Institute. She holds a BA in political science and geography from Macalester College and an MPA in public and nonprofit management and policy from NYU Wagner. She lives in Brooklyn and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and Vancouver, Canada.
