About NeON

The Neighborhood Opportunity Network (NeON), launched in 2011, has gained national recognition for its innovative approach to community-based support. NeON represents a philosophy of effective intervention, realized through a network of centers in seven NYC neighborhoods with high concentrations of individuals on probation.

Each NeON center hosts a local Stakeholder Group, open to community members and typically including representatives from local organizations, clergy, and business owners. At NeON centers, individuals under supervision can meet with their Probation Officers and access a variety of services, such as HSE classes, job readiness programs, mentoring, healthcare, and literacy support. Additionally, arts and sports programs selected by the Stakeholder Groups are available, many of which are free and open to all neighborhood residents.
