Legal Services for Immigrant New Yorkers

OCJ supports a range of free and confidential immigration legal services through a number of nonprofit legal organizations across the City, in partnership with the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA). You can call the City-funded, free, and safe MOIA Immigration Legal Support Hotline at 800-354-0365, or call 311 and say, "Immigration Legal," between 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday, to get:

  • Answers to immigration policy questions
  • Information on how and where to find City-funded, free, and safe immigration legal help

The MOIA Immigration Legal Support Hotline helps eligible New York City residents find trusted immigration legal help in the five boroughs. The Hotline does not provide legal services directly and they do not schedule callers for appointments.

The Hotline may be able to show you where to find a trusted provider after you provide some information. Please note that even if you contact a MOIA program partner, due to high demand, it is not guaranteed that someone will take your case on for full representation. You also may not be able to receive a screening.

OCJ legal services are free and you do not have to be an existing HRA client to apply.

Legal services are available regardless of immigration status.
