The Health Department Chest Centers provide low to no cost testing, treatment and care for tuberculosis (TB). We do not ask about immigration status and you do not need health insurance. Tuberculosis services are confidential.
The NYC Health Department is unwavering in its commitment to providing low- and no-cost services and creating safe, affirming spaces for all people. Our clinics proudly serve all New Yorkers, regardless of immigration status, and support our LGBTQ+ communities. Everyone deserves access to compassionate care without barriers.
See the flyer (PDF) for more information on City services available to all New Yorkers.
Note: In addition to the regularly scheduled closing dates, clinics may be closed due to weather conditions or City emergencies. Call 311 for more information.
You can be tested if you have risk factors for developing TB disease, including exposure to someone with infectious TB disease. Chest Centers do not offer TB testing for work or school purposes (See "Changes to Services at Chest Centers"). TB testing is available at low or no cost at many community health clinics and Health + Hospitals facilities.
You must have an appointment to be seen. Please call the chest center you wish to visit to make an appointment. Please check the list below for the nearest chest center in your area.

What can I expect at my visit?
The TB chest centers provide several services during one visit, so you may spend a little more time than you would at a typical medical appointment. All TB-related care, including blood work, sputum collection, X-ray and medication, is provided at the center, on the day of your visit, at no cost to you.
How can I get my test results?
The chest centers do not routinely provide test results via phone, email or text. In most situations, patients are required to return to the clinic to get results and information about next steps needed to complete their evaluation. In some limited cases, with your authorization, TB test results can be mailed to you or your designated provider or program.
How can I request a copy of my medical records?
