DOC Fine Arts Team facilitates a variety of arts programming including art studio, theater arts, music production, fashion design, guided painting, dance and movement groups, murals, and more. Also available are a variety of competitions, internal and external, that participants can engage in. Offered in all facilities.
Columbia University: Art Museums Inside Out
The Fine & Performing Arts team Columbia Justice in Education Initiative provides an opportunity for participants to learn about art and creativity through a variety of avenues, including art clubs (where participants explore art and discuss works presented while also creating their own original works), book clubs (to explore and respond to literature and philosophy), and writing workshops. Cycles typically last 4-6 weeks per partner. Offered in OBCC and RMSC.
Create and ConnectFacilitated by Michelle Repiso, Create and Connect offers participants materials, prompts and projects designed to bring families together by allowing participants to create artworks and memories to send home to their families of origin or families of choice. Society of IllustratorsProgramming focuses on visual storytelling led by artists/educators in the illustration and comics community. Participants are taught to work with a variety of materials and techniques to voice their own stories through the creation of artwork. T-shirt designs, holiday cards, collages of positive messaging and other projects are included. Offered in RNDC and OBCC. Click
