Special Inspection Agency (SIA)
Registration Renewal

REMINDER: Do not submit a renewal application until all desired changes have been processed. Changes to registration may not be made during registration. 

STEP 1: Complete and Print SIA1 Renewal Application

Access electronic Registration Renewal Form and enter SIA# and the email address from existing registration. Do not use SIA1 pdf form for renewing registration.

  • Update insurance information.

Complete, submit and print the SIA1 Application and SIA cover sheet.  Supply the following information on the printed SIA1 Application:

  • Section 4 – Provide handwritten Social Security Number (PE/ RA Directors ONLY)
  • Section 9 – Director to complete the Fines and Convictions section
  • Section 10 – Director to complete the Licensing History section
  • Section 12 – Owner must sign, date, and notarize the form
  • Section 13 – Director(s) must print name, sign, seal, and date the form (PE/ RA Directors ONLY)

STEP 2: Prepare Payment

Pay with check or money order. Complete check/money order for the amount indicated on the SIA cover sheet.  Make the check/money order payable to the NYC Department of Buildings.

STEP 3: Gather Supporting Documents (for PE or RA Directors only)

Gather the required supporting documents.  Review the guidelines for preparing and submitting SIA supporting documents. Incomplete, incorrect and missing documents will delay the processing of the SIA1 application.

STEP 4: Mail SIA Application Package

SIA application package includes:

  • SIA Cover Sheet
  • SIA1 Form (signed, sealed, and dated)
  • All supporting documents from STEP 3
  • Check/money order or copy of electronic payment confirmation email from noreply@finance.nyc.gov
  • Mail application package to the following address:
