New York, NY ― As revelers ushered in 2014 in Times Square, a family welcomed a new baby girl shortly after midnight at Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens, part of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC).

Weighing in at 6 lb., 11 oz., the new girl Tenzin was born to mother Metok Dolma and father Choegyal Dorjee at 12:00:01 AM. Mother and baby are doing well. The parents are originally from Tibet.

"We are thrilled and excited that one of the first babies of 2014 was born at Elmhurst," said Chris Constantino, Elmhurst Hospital Center's Executive Director. "Our staff is overjoyed."

Elmhurst has recently had a run of first “New Year’s Babies.” In 2013, a baby was born at exactly midnight at the hospital.
