Center for Workplace Accessibility and Inclusion
About the Center for Workplace Accessibility and Inclusion
The Center for Workplace Accessibility and Inclusion (CWAI) is dedicated to increasing employment among New Yorkers with disabilities. As an intermediary, CWAI does not provide direct services to New Yorkers, but instead partners with a variety of key stakeholders to identify and eliminate barriers to careers facing people with disabilities. CWAI achieves its mission through a number of key activities:
- Assist employers in making their workplaces more accessible and in hiring more workers with disabilities.
- Strengthen the City of New York's role as a model employer by making City workplaces more accessible and hiring more employees with disabilities.
- Help build the capacity of workforce providers to better serve people with disabilities.
- Support the design, launch, and assessment of new program models that increase employment for people with disabilities.
- Improve the City's ability to capture, collect, and report on the number of people with disabilities served by workforce programs and their outcomes.
- Advance systems change by breakdown down siloes and connecting key stakeholders to other partners, best practices, and available resources.
