Board Build
We provide a cohort-based peer learning opportunity for community-based development organization (CBDO) executive directors and board chairs focused on building effective and engaged nonprofit boards. "Board Build" is a cohort-based, peer learning opportunity for community-based economic development organizations that brings together CBDO executive directors and their board chairs in a series of facilitated conversations and activities around topics including board composition and recruitment, creating and managing board culture and dynamics, and defining roles and responsibilities.
All participating CBDOs will administer a board self-assessment and will be given specific guidance on organizing and agenda setting for a board retreat. The program format will include a combination of four virtual peer learning sessions to be attended by both the CBDO executive director and the board chair along with executive director office hour sessions with a nonprofit management coach over a six-month period.
This is a competitive opportunity limited to four organizations and will be facilitated by nonprofit management experts from the Support Center. The program will take place virtually from January through June 2022.
Applications are open until 5 p.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021. Apply for Board Build here.
