September 9, 2026

On September 9, 2026, the FDNY held a memorial service on Staten Island to commemorate 25 years since the September 11th terrorist attacks.

“Today as we gather on Staten Island, we take a moment to look across the water into lower Manhattan at a skyline that has changed all of our lives. We gather to mark an incredible moment in time. 25 years since September 11th attacks. A quarter century defined by a single day that did not end for our department," said Fire Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore.

The ceremony honored the 343 FDNY members who made the Supreme Sacrifice that day, as well as the FDNY members, active and retired who have since died from World Trade Center-related illnesses.

“As we gather here, we reaffirm our commitment to one another, to our city, and to the values of resilience and compassion that define us. Let us carry forward that spirit of unity that emerged in the aftermath and continue to support and love each other every day. We will never ever forget," said Chief of Department John Esposito.

The FDNY stands with the families of its fallen members, and continues to promise to Never Forget.
