Zoonotic and Vector-borne Diseases: Information for Veterinarians and Medical Providers

Zoonotic diseases are diseases that are normally found in animals but can be transmitted to people. Vectors are frequently arthropods, such as mosquitoes, ticks, flies, fleas and lice, which can transmit diseases through bites.

Reporting

Health care and animal health providers in New York City are required to report certain diseases and conditions to the Health Department.
