Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) training and certification classes are sponsored by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's Healthy Homes Program (HHP) for free. The RRP training provides information on how to work safely in areas with lead paint and is taught by a US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certified trainer. In addition to the RRP curriculum, trainees are taught the requirements for lead-safe work practices under NYC's Local Law 1. If you successfully complete this class, you will be eligible to become an EPA Certified Renovator.
Renovation, repair and paint professionals who work in houses, apartments, or child-occupied buildings built before 1978 must be trained and certified in the EPA's RRP rule. This renovation certification is required by the EPA if you supervise renovation and repair work. This includes contractors, superintendents, landlords, handymen, Do-It-Yourselfers, and child care maintenance workers.
Classes are provided in English and Spanish only. People interested in taking this course must be able to read, write, and speak the language in which the training class is presented.
There are no classes currently scheduled. Register below to be informed when a class in your preferred language is available.
