The Food Protection Course for Mobile Vendors trains individuals in food protection practices to ensure the safety of the food served in NYC's mobile food carts and trucks. The NYC Health code requires that all applicants for a Mobile Food Vendor license be certified in food protection. Completion of this course and passing of the final exam satisfies that requirement. This class is offered in English and Bangla.
Frequency and Duration: This is an eight-hour course conducted over two days, four hours each day. Two English classes are held most weeks, one on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and another on Thursdays and Fridays. Schedule for the Bangla class varies.
Participants who complete the course and are successful at the final examination are issued their licenses.
Registration for this course must be done in person at the Citywide Licensing Center. Pay by certified check, money order, American Express, Discover, Visa or Master Card. Anyone registering for this course must also apply for and pay separately for a mobile food vending license at the same time. The cost of the license is $50.
