For New Schools

Eligibility:

Participating schools must meet the following requirements:

  • Be either a Nonpublic or Charter School
  • Be nonprofit
  • Have 150 or more students in any combination of grades pre-K through 12th grade only
  • Have a Basic Educational Data System (BEDS) Code assigned by the New York State Education Department (NYSED)
  • For Charter Schools:
    • Does not share space with a New York City Public School
    • Will not be utilizing rental or tuition assistance from NYC Department of Education to procure security services for 2025 – 2026

If you are from an eligible school:

DCAS verifies student enrollment using the BEDS form schools submit to NYSED in the Fall showing enrollment data as of BEDS Day (1st Wednesday in October). A copy of the school’s BEDS form along with the complete MOU must be submitted to DCAS via email no later than November 15th of the same school year in which the school is accepted into the Program. Enrollment will be calculated by the number of students under each BEDS number. Schools with different BEDS numbers cannot combine enrolled students. A school’s MOU must be executed with the Department of Citywide Administrative Services before submitting an invoice for reimbursement.

Note: The 2025-2026 application period is open from March 1st, 2025 to May 15th, 2025.
