File a Claim for 26 Motors Restitution

DCWP has entered into a settlement agreement with 26 Motors, a group of six used car dealerships, for alleged violations of the New York City Consumer Protection Law and other laws. The settlement created a $1.5 million restitution fund for consumers who suffered financial harm after buying a used car from a 26 Motors dealership in New York City. The company is also banned from doing business in New York City for five years.

You may be eligible to file a claim:

  • You purchased a used car from a 26 Motors dealership in New York City between March 1, 2019 and January 5, 2024, AND
  • You have not already filed a complaint with DCWP related to that car purchase AND
  • 26 Motors charged you more than the advertised price OR your car was not roadworthy (i.e., would not operate or was dangerous to operate) within 30 days of purchase.

Claim Process

DCWP will review claims in the order it receives them. DCWP will pay claims until no money remains in the Fund or the submission deadline, whichever comes first.
