Our clerical professionals provide vital support to every Agency unit. Their impact expands across various operational areas such as customer service delivery, fiscal operations, and legal support. Clerical professionals bring necessary skills to keep our agency running and organized by handling records, furnishing information, generating reports, and serving as liaisons to the public and internal personnel by telephone, in-person, and email across units throughout the Agency
Our IT team plays an instrumental role in enabling Agency operations by building and maintaining modern IT applications and infrastructure. Their impact translates to developing new applications and enhancing existing ones, supporting and maintaining various information systems, as well as analyzing and evaluating emerging technologies for the Agency's growing needs. Altogether our IT team improves the user experience of both our employees and external customers.
The investigative staff perform investigations to promote integrity within the Department, the real estate, design, and construction industries. In collaboration with our legal team, DOB investigators determine qualifications for City employment and trade licenses, as well as employee misconduct or incompetent practices. Please note investigative roles may include field and/or office work.
Our legal team addresses a broad range of matters involving all aspects of the Agency's functions, advising on Construction Code and zoning interpretations, State laws, licensing, contracts, and conflicts of interest issues. Legal roles include Hearing Attorney positions representing the Department before the City's Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings/Environmental Control Board (OATH/ECB).
Our administrative staff provides daily operational management and support for more than 1,600 employees across dozens of units. These professionals occupy roles in analytics, budget management, community engagement, customer service, human resources, borough operations and more. The various positions encompass our frontline staff who interact with DOB's various units, the public, and other stakeholders, as well as our behind the scenes operations teams.
